Deadline for Application
Applications for the MEXT Research Scholarships for 2026 are now officially open. The last date to apply is May 27, 2025.

Important Notice
Due to the large number of applications received each year, we are unable to confirm receipt of individual documents. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for the test and interview. The Embassy will not respond to inquiries regarding non-selection. Only complete applications will be considered. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted by mid-June 2025.
Documents Required
Please submit the following documents in the specified order before the deadline:
- Mark Sheet Form
- Application Form (1 original)
- Research Plan (duly prepared)
- Attested Copies of Degrees and Transcripts from the last university attended
(Attestation by the respective university is mandatory if selected.)- Depending on your academic background:
- If you have graduated from an undergraduate program: Submit the academic transcript of the program.
- If you have completed a graduate school degree: Submit academic transcripts of both the undergraduate and graduate programs.
- If you are currently pursuing an undergraduate degree: Submit an academic transcript covering all completed terms up to the time of application.
- If you are currently pursuing a graduate degree: Submit the undergraduate transcript and the graduate school transcript covering completed terms.
- Depending on your academic background:
- Attested Copy of Certificate of Graduation or Degree Certificate
Submit according to your academic background:- If you have graduated from an undergraduate program: Certificate of graduation.
- If you have completed a graduate school degree: Certificates of graduation from both undergraduate and graduate programs.
- If you are currently pursuing an undergraduate degree: Certificate of prospective graduation.
- If you are currently pursuing a graduate degree: Certificate of graduation (undergraduate) and a certificate of prospective graduation (graduate).
- Recommendation Letter
One original letter from the president, dean, or academic advisor of your current or last university. - Abstract of Thesis (if applicable) (1 original)
- Recommendation Letter from Employer (if applicable) (1 original)
