The application period for the MEXT Undergraduate Scholarship 2026 is now open. The last date to apply is May 31, 2025.

Important
Due to the high volume of applications we receive each year, we are unable to confirm receipt of individual documents. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for the written test and interview. The Embassy will not respond to inquiries regarding reasons for non-selection. Additionally, only complete applications will be considered. Shortlisted candidates can expect to be contacted by the end of June 2025.
Required Documents
Please submit the following documents in the order listed before the deadline:
- Mark Sheet Form
- Application Form (1 original copy)
- Academic Transcripts
Submit attested copies of your academic records as follows:- Secondary School (Matric/O Levels) and Higher Secondary School (Intermediate/A Levels) — 1 attested copy of each.
- Depending on your academic background, submit:
- If you are attending or have graduated from a higher secondary school: Academic transcript from your higher secondary school.
- If you are attending or have graduated from a university: Academic transcripts from both your higher secondary school and your university.
- Certificate of Graduation (with original attestation)
Submit according to your academic status:- If you are currently enrolled in a higher secondary school: Certificate of prospective graduation.
- If you have already graduated from a higher secondary school: Certificate of graduation.
- If you are currently enrolled in a university: Certificate of graduation from your higher secondary school and certificate of enrollment from your university.
- If you have already graduated from a university: Certificates of graduation from both your higher secondary school and your university.
- Recommendation Letter
Submit 1 original letter from either the class teacher or principal of your most recent school. - Certificate of Enrollment (if currently enrolled)
Submit 1 attested original. - Hope Certificate (if your final result is expected by August 2025)
Submit 1 original copy issued by your institute.
