Program Overview
The Parliamentary Internship Program offers a valuable opportunity for recent graduates to gain firsthand experience within Pakistan’s highest legislative institution the National Parliament. This initiative aims to equip participants with a deeper understanding of democratic systems and parliamentary operations. Designed to support the goals outlined in the National Assembly’s Strategic Plan (NASP), the program focuses on expanding civic engagement and youth involvement in parliamentary affairs.

Duration
- Length: 6 weeks
- Structure: Internships are offered in rolling batches throughout the year.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Hold a minimum of 14 years of formal education from a Higher Education Commission (HEC) accredited institution.
- Students enrolled in a 4-year undergraduate degree must have completed at least four semesters. Master’s students may also apply.
- Fields of study include, but are not limited to: Law, Economics, Business/Public Administration, Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Statistics, Human Resource Management, Agriculture, Media & Communication, IT, and Social Sciences.
- A minimum of 60% marks (in percentage system) from 2.5 CGPA out of 4.0 is required.
- Applicants from remote areas such as Balochistan, Southern Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, former FATA, AJK, and Gilgit Baltistan encouraged to apply.
- Age must not exceed 30 years.
Program Features
Practical Experience: Work alongside various departments of the National Assembly.
- Professional Development: Gain insights into legislative functions, research, and policy-making.
- Mentorship: Receive support and guidance from experienced mentors throughout the program.
- Training & Orientation: Participate in a 3 to 5-day training session at the Pakistan Institute of Parliamentary Services (PIPS) in Islamabad.
- Certificate: A formal certificate will issued upon successful completion of the program.

Program Expectations
- Attendance: At least 85% attendance is mandatory.
- Full-Time Commitment: Interns must work five days a week, 8 hours per day.
- Code of Conduct: Adherence to the National Assembly’s rules regarding dress, discipline, confidentiality, and required conduct.
- Non-Political Participation: Interns must maintain impartiality and avoid political involvement during the program.

Additional Notes
- This is an unpaid internship. No fees are required for application.
- Completion of the internship does not imply future employment with the National Assembly.
- Any attempt to influence the selection process will result in disqualification.
- The Secretariat holds the right to discontinue the internship in case of policy violations.
